Look at some of the events that have happened in this church

The annual dinner Fund Raiser for Kidz on a Mission took place in May at the Otsego Grand. A Cinco de Mayo dinner included dinner and entertainment. Click here to see some of the festivities.

Cookies for College

Kidz on a Mission sent out 6 containers of Valentine goodies to college students this last week. This is a great way to keep in contact with some of our kids and former Kidz.

Rokko's Annual Memorial Concert

Christmas Eve 2018

Some of the music and the sermon that were a part of the Christmas Eve Service - 2018.

Kidz Trip 2018

The annual Kidz trip to Detroit involved 8 youth, 7 college students and 7 adults. The group worked at One Stop Shop in Brightmoor and at Cass Community Social Services.

Christmas Pot Luck

Mrs. Claus came to the Christmas Pot Luck. This well attended meal took place after church gave the congregation time to spend with their church family during the holidays.

Christmas Eve

The Candlelit Christmas Eve service was a time of scripture, traditional and modern music, and a meaningful message. To be able to hear some of the service, click here.

Great food and a special visitor marked the evening at the Annual Christmas Pot Luck. See the reaction of two of our children to the visitor.

Kidz on a Mission December Trip

The Kidz class made their annual trek to Detroit to work at One Stop Shop and the Cass Community Social Services.Click here to see some of their pictures.

Church at The Brook

The Kidz on a Mission put on a church service at the Brook Retirement Home. Residents from the Brook, as well as people from the Congregational Church attended the service.

Celebration of a Cause

For the months of September and October, the church devoted itself to the study of Hunger. At the end of that study, the celebrated the many accomplishments and heard reports from The Crop Walk, the Food Pantry, the Community Meal, the School of Love and the Kidz on a Mission. See photos.

Baked Potato Lunch

A Baked Potato Lunch was held in November. The monies raised were to help the Kidz on a Mission take their annual trip to Detroit. To see additional pictures, click here.

God's Country

The Kidz on a Mission class went to Newberry to spend the day working at God's Country Coopeartive Parish. Seven churches have joined to service a large area in the Upper Peninsula. The kids spent the day sorting clothes that were given out the first week in November. Click here to see some pictures of the event.

Halloween Party

The Youth had a Halloween Party which was an evening of games, food, and great prizes.

Paint and Sip

A Paint and Sip fund raiser took place on October 12. The monies raised will help the Kidz on a Mission to continue to do their projects. To see pictures of the event, click here.

Installation of Toby Jones

On October 8, 2017, Toby Jones was installed as the pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Pastors from other churches officiated and attended, as well as people form the congregation. To see pictures of the event, click here.

Hunger Projects

The theme for the church for September and October is hunger. The Crop Walk, the Hunger Stoppers, and the Community Meal were some of these activities. To see pictures of the event, click here.

Basement

The basement of the church received a real facelift this summer. The Youth, thier parents and some other volunteers spent many weeks creating the new space. To see pictures of this eent, click here.

Baptisms

The church's most recent Outdoor Service was made even better by the baptism of four girls from the House family. Congratulations to them and blessings!

Teen Movie Night

Movie, pop corn, pop, s'mores and friends. Who could ask for more? Fun was had by all on July 7th.

Pentecost Sunday

The church celebrated Penecost in a special way, as the church had a service to honor the addition of over 30 people to the church in the last 18 months.
Scholarships were rewarded this year to two graduating seniors: Anna Kalember and Alice Madonna. Anna will be attending Central Michigan University and Alice will be attending U of M.

Church Clean Up

On May 28th, the members of the church joined together to do an outside Spring clean up, which included planting flowers.

Kidz Spring Trip

In just two days, the Kidz on a Mission attended a BarMitzvah at Temple BethEl; visited an Islamic Center; attended a Confirmation at a Methodist Church; toured a Holocaust Muserum, and ate at some fun places. To see some pictures of this trip, just click here.

Kudos to several people from this church who were involved at St. Baldrick's Day.
